Today is Orphan Sunday 2011. Did you know there are 163 MILLION orphans in the world! One hundred and sixty three million! 163,000,000 orphans in this world. That is a mind boggling number, no matter which way your write it. Today, November 6th 2011 is the day that we stand up and try to make a difference. What can you do to help an orphan? What can you do to change the world for one?
We are trying to save two orphans. We want to bring two orphans into our home and make then orphans no more. We want them to know the love of a Mama and Papa. To know the love of a Grandma, Grandpa, Nana, Papa, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and friends. We want them to have every opportunity that is available to them. We can't wait to bring our children home. We can't wait to change the world for two.
Everyday we struggle with our restraints and learn patience as this process goes on. We have to wait on the proper protocol, jump through all the hoops at the right time, and wait. I hate waiting. I really, really hate waiting. I am not a patient person by any stretch of the imagination. But the adoption process is teaching me patience.
Hopefully, by the end of the month, we will be able to officially commit to the sibling set that we are interested in. Once we commit, we will share more information with you all.
If you are able, please share our story. Please share our fund-raisers. We need to raise and save about $5500 more to pay for all of our fees. After that amount all we need is airfare, hotel and food while we are in their country. We need a little less then $10,000 to be fully funded. This is still a substantial number, we know. But we know we can make it there. Our goal is to raise and save the $5500 by the end of this year so we can submit all of our paperwork to their county. That is less then 2 months from now. About 1 month after we submit all of our paperwork we will get a travel date to come meet our kids for the first time! After that visit (which lasts about a week) we have to come back to Germany and wait for court. Between 2 and 4 months later we will go back and bring our children home!
We are ready to go to their country. We are ready to meet our kids. We are ready to expand our family through international adoption.
